剛始聽的時候覺得旋律很熟，後來才想起來，優客李林曾翻唱過。
原唱是Kansa合唱團，民歌風十足。

Kerry Livgren 曾在一次訪問提到這首歌的創作背景。
有一次他在閱讀一本有關美國印地安人詩集的書時，看到其中有一段詞 "For all we are is dust in the wind"
覺得心有戚戚焉，於是就用這句詩為基礎，寫下了這首經典的歌曲的歌詞，訪問中的原文如下：
Kerry Livgren: I was reading a book on American Indian poetry one day, and I came across that line - this American Indian said "for all we are is dust in the wind." And I thought, well, you know, that's really true. Here I got all this success - I've got material possessions - I've got a goal in my life that had been accomplished at that point, but I'm going back into the ground - and what does this really mean in light of hat?
至於曲子，他是在練習吉他指法時，他太太碰巧經過覺得很好聽，建議他寫成歌曲：
The way the song came about - I've always been a - you know, as lead guitar player of the band, a rock & roll electric guitar player. I've never really been an acoustic guitar player. So I was kind of trying to expand my musical horizons, and I had this acoustic guitar, and I was trying to learn to fingerpick. So I made up this finger exercise, to teach myself to fingerpick. And I was sitting in my music room, playing this thing, and my wife walked by - and she stood there and listened for a second, and she goes "Boy, that's really pretty - you should make words with that." I said "No, honey - this is just - I'm just trying to learn how to - how to do this." She goes "No, no - that's really nice - don't forget that now." And she kept bugging me about this "pretty thing", you know. She really seemed to latch onto it, so I made it into a song. And once again, we were almost done with rehearsal for Point of Know Return - pretty well learned all the songs, and we kind of got to the end of things, and they said "Have you got any more songs?" And I aid "Well, I've got this one, but you guys wouldn't like it - I mean, this is notKansas

想起名曲《Dust In The Wind》與《Carry On Wayward Son》,就令人想起Kansas
這支美國籍前衛搖滾樂團，成軍於1971年的五人音樂團體「堪薩斯合唱團」
是Progressive rock、rock/ metal 樂的先驅，影響了無數後輩的樂團。
在70年代當英國與歐陸前衛搖滾風潮橫行天下的時候，Kansas無疑是美洲前衛樂團的唯一精神棟樑，足以與Yes、ELP與Pink Floyd相提並論。
主唱Steve Walsh，為Kansas譜寫了不少膾炙人心的經典名曲，受過古典樂訓練的小提琴手Robby Steinhardt，其演奏功力堪稱前衛搖滾界的第一好手，Ehart，Greer，Hope與Williams更是共同輔佐Kansas步上世界一流樂團之列的搖滾名人。
